The Dataran Merdeka (or Merdeka Square) is
situated in front of the Sultan Abdul Samad Building, one
of the most significant landmarks built by the British. It
was here the Union Flag was lowered and the Malayan flag was
hoisted for the first time at midnight on August 31, 1957,
the Independence Day for Malaysia. Since then, Dataran Merdeka

is a creative solution to achieving the larger spans required
in the main gathering hall. Reflecting pools and fountains
spread throughout the compound.
The National Museum is located outside Perdana
